Taking care of your Headonist cap 30 October 2020 - Posted in: Headoniste values
Due to the handcrafted nature of the cap and the choice of high quality fabric, it is not recommended to machine wash your cap. You will find below the washing advice according to the material of your cap.
Maintain a pure wool cap, super 100 wool and recycled wool.
Put warm water in a basin and add a little detergent or soap. Take a clean cloth and dip it into the basin. Once wet, remove the cloth and wring it out before using it on your cap, dabbing it all over the fabric (inside and out), paying particular attention to the stained areas.
Rinse the cloth with clear water and wring it out. Then dab the cloth again over the entire cap to remove any excess soap.
To clean the sweatband on the inside of the cap, you can do the same thing, using a small soft brush to clean the sweat spots.
Jacquard fabrics
Because of the particularity of the weaving, some jacquards, especially those with a relief aspect, for a more noble look, are rather fragile and do not resist well to abrasions and snags (with rings for example). It is advisable to proceed to a dry cleaning by a specialist.
However, you can clean the inside of your cap by using a basin of warm soapy water in which you can dip a clean cloth. Once wet, remove the cloth and wring it out before using it to dab the entire inside of your cap. Rinse the cloth with clean water and wring it out. Then dab the cloth again all over the inside of your cap to remove any excess soap.

Maintaining a two-material cap (fabric and leather)
It is best to have dry cleaning done by specialists.
To maintain your suede visors and in case of small stains, use a skin eraser. To do this, gently rub the eraser over the affected area and then brush the skin gently in the same direction with a soft bristle brush provided for this purpose.
For full-grain leather visors, use a soft cloth dampened with soap and water to remove any stains.
In both cases and to protect your visors from the rain, you can use a waterproofing product designed for this purpose.
For the inner parts of your cap, you can proceed in the same way as for the jacquard fabrics, taking care not to overflow on the leather parts.
Maintaining a cotton fabric cap
Put warm water in a basin and add a little detergent or soap. Soak your cap and rub it gently. You can use a small brush to scrub the dirtiest areas. Then rinse with clean water and drain with a sponge cloth (e.g. a flannel).
